Bending Perception - Grounding, Balance & Play

Enjoy a vinyasa flow intended to cultivate grounding through standing balance postures and invite play with perspective shifts and inversions. Through hip opening postures, we strengthen the stability that supports spontaneity, playful transitions, and perhaps unexpected shapes. This practice is inspired by the 17th century Haiku poet, Mizuta Masahide:

Since my house burned down
I now have a better view
of the rising moon

Perhaps a thread of comedy to the play of life, this practice invites you to release the tendency towards ‘good’ or ‘bad,’ ‘positive’ or ‘negative,’ and allow the way we engage with reality to widen and open to new ways of seeing.

What to expect: This is a tridoshic yoga practice - a vinyasa flow with an emphasis on standing balance postures, hip opening, hamstring stretches and the invitation to invert or play. The leg and hip focus pacifies Vata as well as Pitta. The inversions and playful transitions balances Kapha Dosha. Working towards a variation of Utthita Hasta Padangusthasana | Hand to Big Toe Pose with some eagle legs, cow face pose, and optional inversion.

Filmed in Indian Creek, Utah.
