Vinyasa | Embracing Totality - Heart & Backbend Flow

45 MINUTE | VINYASA | ALL LEVELS

Embracing Totality

“You build your inner strength through embracing the totality of your experience, both the delightful parts and the difficult parts.” - Pema Chodron

In this 45 minute vinyasa flow we practice welcoming all parts of our experience on the mat and our selves. This is the practice of ahimsa, of non violence, loving kindness and compassion and heart opening. This is also the practice of courageous tolerance, enabling our ability to be what we might push a way, hide, or reject. Ultimately when we embrace the totality, we invite the yoga or the integration of all that is.

What to expect: Begins with restorative hip opener and dirga pranayama - 3 part breath to relax the nervous system. Move through a series of heart opening, back strengthening postures such as locust, bridge, warrior 3, dancer, sphinx. Working towards: Building towards deep back-bending poses which include: dhanurasana, floor bow, half frog - arch bhekasana, and dancer pose nataranjasana.

Suggested Props: Two bricks.

Filmed in Tucson, Arizona.
